Persephone in the Late Anthropocene, in Congress Square

  • Congress Square Portland, ME (map)

Megan and composer Denis Nye present a spoken modern opera performance from Megan's Persephone in the Late Anthropocene, as part of three short poetry-plus-performance acts performed live in the out-of-doors in Portland's Congress Square Park.

Persephone in the Late Anthropocene, a verse oratorio with composition for violin and cello, imagines the Greek goddess of springtime in the era of climate change. Featuring actors Ian Carlsen, Paul Haley, Tess Van Horn, and Ellen White, under the direction of Karen Ball.

Joining them will be a poetry-sound collaboration about basketball by Jefferson Navicky and Caroline Losneck, and a musical-poetic exquisite corpse by Christopher Robley, Rachel Flynn, Jim Thatcher, and Marita O'Neil.
